Google Maps Updated in Portland

The aerial photos for Google Maps have been updated to 2007 aerials. Every year, the local government organization called Metro has an aerial photo flight of the Portland metro area. They use this for land use planning and to determine how much undeveloped land is available. Metro has some kind of an agreement with Google - Metro gets something in return for allowing Google to use the collected aerials.

Take a look at our neighborhood. We can never quite see the cars in the driveway due to the shadows from a tall tree. The photos are usually taken from 10am to 2pm so that shadows are eliminated from the photos. But - our tree is quite large, and covers most of the area where we park.
